Technical Architect (AI) – Remote iGaming Job

Technical Architect (AI) | Remote (UK or EU) | Full-Time Permanent

Location: Remote (UK or EU)
Salary: Circa €100,000 per annum
Working Pattern: Fully remote, open to candidates based in the UK or EU
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Reports To: Engineering / Architecture Leadership

About the Role

Our client, a fast-growing B2B iGaming platform provider, is hiring a Technical Architect (AI) to shape how artificial intelligence is safely, efficiently and commercially enabled across their platform and organisation. This is a senior, fully remote role open to candidates based in the UK or EU, with a salary of circa €100,000 per annum. The position sits at the intersection of architecture, engineering, product, security and data, and it carries real architectural influence across the business.

This is not a role about bolting AI onto existing systems. As the Technical Architect (AI), you will make AI a secure, scalable and measurable platform capability. You will design the architecture, patterns, controls and infrastructure that allow engineering teams to use large language models (LLMs), vector search, retrieval, agents and automation responsibly within a regulated iGaming environment. Working remotely across the UK and EU, you will translate AI opportunities into production-ready designs that are performant, cost-aware, compliant, safe and secure.

Success in this AI Technical Architect role looks like reusable patterns that move teams from experimentation to production-grade delivery, clear governance that protects sensitive operational and player data, and practical AI adoption across internal tooling, knowledge management, operator-facing capabilities and platform automation. You will be the person who makes complex AI trade-offs visible and understandable for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Key Responsibilities

As the Technical Architect (AI), you will own the technical direction for LLM-enabled capabilities, including model selection, hosted versus self-managed trade-offs, AI service boundaries, API contracts and integration patterns. You will define the AI architecture blueprint covering LLM enablement, retrieval-augmented generation, AI services, security guardrails, model evaluation, observability and cost control.

You will design secure retrieval patterns for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) using embeddings, vector databases, semantic search, metadata filtering, chunking strategies, permission-aware retrieval and knowledge lifecycle management. Alongside this, you will define the controls that keep AI safe in a regulated market, addressing prompt injection, data leakage, hallucination risk, PII handling, model access control, audit logging, sensitive data redaction and output validation.

On the infrastructure side, you will architect AI workloads for high availability, low latency, throughput and resilience across AWS, Kubernetes and EKS, and event-driven platform patterns. You will establish principles for token efficiency and cost optimisation, including prompt design, context management, model routing, caching, batching, summarisation, retrieval precision and token budget governance, treating tokens, inference and infrastructure as first-class architectural constraints.

You will define model evaluation frameworks, acceptance criteria, regression testing, monitoring and feedback loops for AI outputs and AI-assisted workflows. You will connect AI capabilities into the core Player Account Management (PAM) platform, CMS, integration hub, data lake, support tooling and internal knowledge systems using pragmatic, maintainable architecture.

Technical leadership runs through the role. You will produce architecture decision records, technical specifications, target-state diagrams and non-functional requirements, mentor engineering teams and guide implementation decisions through clear trade-off analysis. You will work closely with product, engineering, QA, DevOps, security, customer-facing teams and leadership to prioritise AI use cases and communicate decisions clearly across the organisation.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for an experienced AI Solutions Architect who can translate emerging AI technology into safe, deliverable architecture. The essential requirements for this Technical Architect (AI) position are listed below, followed by skills that would be an advantage.

Essential

  • 8+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, data engineering or architecture experience, with a strong track record designing production systems
  • 3+ years in a technical, solution, enterprise or platform architecture role within a product or technology company
  • Practical experience designing AI-enabled systems using LLMs, embeddings, RAG, vector databases and/or AI agents in a production or near-production environment
  • Strong knowledge of the LLM ecosystem, including OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock and open-source models, with an understanding of model deployment trade-offs
  • Working knowledge of vector databases or vector-capable stores such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, Qdrant, pgvector, OpenSearch or Redis Vector
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, microservices, APIs, event-driven and distributed systems, security patterns, observability and non-functional requirements
  • Backend architecture fluency with Java, Node.js and/or Python, comfortable guiding engineering teams at implementation level
  • Experience with AWS services, Kubernetes/EKS, containers, CI/CD, infrastructure automation and monitoring
  • Awareness of AI-specific risks including prompt injection, data exfiltration, jailbreaks, over-permissive retrieval, training-data leakage and hallucination impact
  • Strong understanding of data privacy, GDPR-aligned controls, auditability and secure-by-design engineering in regulated environments
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery with distributed teams, including backlog shaping and delivery risk management
  • Excellent written and verbal English, able to explain complex AI and platform trade-offs with clarity

Advantageous

  • Experience in iGaming, sports betting, online casino, PAM platforms, payments, KYC/AML, responsible gaming, CRM or regulatory technology
  • Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, MCP, CrewAI or other AI orchestration frameworks
