Head of Marketing Compliance – Gibraltar iGaming Job
Head of Marketing Compliance | Gibraltar | On-Site
Location: Gibraltar
Working Pattern: Full-Time, On-Site
Contract: Permanent
Department: Compliance
About the Role
Our client is a next-generation online sports betting and gaming operator, and they are hiring a Head of Marketing Compliance in Gibraltar. Marketing compliance sits at the sharpest edge of regulatory risk in any gambling business, where CAP and BCAP Code exposure, ASA scrutiny and the commercial pressure to move quickly on campaigns all meet in the same place. This is an ownership role rather than a review and sign-off function.
The Head of Marketing Compliance owns that space end to end: setting the standard, building the judgement calls into a defensible framework, and acting as the direct point of contact with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA). The work spans social, out-of-home, sponsorship and influencer content, and it covers both the day to day approvals and the systemic fixes that stop the same issues surfacing again six months later.
Based in Gibraltar and working on-site within the Compliance team, this marketing compliance role suits someone who wants genuine ownership of a high-visibility area. Success here is not measured by how much content you personally review. It is measured by whether Marketing can move at pace with a clear framework behind them, whether approvals stand up to UKGC and ASA evidentiary standards, and whether recurring exposure is designed out rather than caught late.
Key Responsibilities
Own the relationship with the ASA directly, including responding to formal contacts and rulings. Track and manage the full history of ASA engagement, identify recurring themes across that history and push systemic fixes, rather than treating each contact as an isolated event.
Monitor CAP and BCAP Code amendments and translate those changes into practical, usable guidance for the business before they create exposure. Own the standard for under-18 appeal risk under CAP Code 16.3.12 across social, out-of-home, sponsorship and influencer content, an area of gambling advertising that attracts some of the closest scrutiny in regulated markets.
Build and maintain a decision framework that Marketing can self-serve for routine content, reserving your time for genuine edge cases. This is the difference between a marketing compliance function that scales with the business and one that becomes the bottleneck in it.
Review high-risk placements before they go live, including athlete partnerships, sponsorship activations and high-reach social content. Maintain a live risk register of past rulings, covering both our client’s own history and relevant competitor outcomes, and use it to pressure-test new campaigns before they reach the market.
Own the marketing approval process end to end, designing an operating system that lets Marketing move quickly without creating exposure. Maintain marketing approval logs and audit trails to UKGC and ASA evidentiary standard, so that decisions can be evidenced and defended long after they were made.
Own marketing compliance reporting into the Compliance Committee, covering risk trends, systemic themes and ASA contact history, so that senior stakeholders have a current and accurate view of where advertising risk sits.
Partner with Legal, Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) and Technical Compliance in the areas where marketing risk intersects with broader regulatory exposure, making sure the marketing view and the wider compliance view stay joined up.
What We’re Looking For
This is a specialist role, and it calls for gambling marketing compliance experience specifically rather than a generalist compliance background.
Essential
- Deep and current experience in gambling marketing compliance, covering the CAP and BCAP Codes, LCCP and ASA processes specifically
- Direct experience managing ASA contacts and rulings
- Strong working knowledge of CAP Code 16.3.12 and under-18 appeal risk as applied to social and sponsorship content
- Comfortable owning judgement calls under commercial pressure and defending those calls afterwards
- A track record of building frameworks and tools that scale compliance judgement, rather than personally reviewing everything
- Commercial awareness, with enough understanding of brand and campaign objectives to find the compliant version of what Marketing wants rather than simply blocking it
- Comfortable operating at pace in a high-growth environment without letting standards slip
- Experience maintaining approval logs and audit trails to a regulatory evidentiary standard
Advantageous
- Experience of contested ASA outcomes
- Experience with influencer marketing, athlete partnerships and sponsorship activation compliance
- Experience reporting into a Compliance Committee or equivalent governance forum
- Experience working alongside Legal, AFC and Technical Compliance teams
- Experience establishing a compliance capability within a scaling operator
