Test Assurance Manager – Gibraltar iGaming Job

Test Assurance Manager | Gibraltar | Hybrid

Location: Gibraltar
Working Pattern: Hybrid (office and remote split)
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Reports To: Head of Quality Assurance / Programme Director

About the Role

We are partnering with our client to recruit a Test Assurance Manager to join their growing technology function in Gibraltar. This is a high-visibility role that sits at the centre of release governance, working alongside QA leadership, delivery teams, and external partners to ensure that every product release reaches the business with confidence and quality.

The Test Assurance Manager role does not replace existing QA leadership. Instead, it sits across QA, UAT, and specialist testing functions to provide a consolidated, risk-led view of testing readiness across complex projects. The successful candidate will bring structure, oversight, and clear reporting to a fast-moving iGaming environment that operates across regulated markets including online casino and sports betting.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QA professional, test programme manager, or quality assurance lead who enjoys working at the intersection of technical delivery and business stakeholder engagement. The role is based in Gibraltar on a hybrid working pattern, offering both the energy of a collaborative on-site environment and the flexibility of structured remote days. Success in this Test Assurance Manager position will be measured by clear visibility of testing across all projects, reduced release risk, and a consistent governance framework that scales with the business.

Key Responsibilities

Test Assurance and Strategy Alignment

The Test Assurance Manager is responsible for defining and maintaining overarching test assurance frameworks across all in-flight projects. This includes building on existing QA and UAT plans, ensuring full coverage across functional, non-functional, and specialist testing such as performance and penetration testing, and validating that appropriate entry and exit criteria, along with success metrics, are in place for every release.

Planning and Coordination

Consolidating testing plans across internal QA teams, UAT participants, and third-party providers into a single cohesive view is central to this role. The Test Assurance Manager identifies coverage gaps, dependencies, and risks across testing phases, and confirms that the right environments, data, and resources are in place ahead of each test execution cycle.

Resource and Vendor Oversight

Working closely with the QA Manager, the Test Assurance Manager identifies when specialist testing support is required, whether that is performance, security, or compliance focused. The role provides oversight of internal QA teams and external vendors, coordinating delivery against agreed plans without taking on direct line management responsibility for QA execution teams.

UAT and Business Engagement

Structuring and supporting User Acceptance Testing in collaboration with business stakeholders is a core part of this Test Assurance Manager position. This includes producing clear test scenarios, well-defined acceptance criteria, and robust sign-off processes, and acting as the bridge between technical teams and business users during validation phases.

Defect and Quality Reporting

The Test Assurance Manager oversees defect tracking, triage alignment, and resolution progress, communicating defect burn-down, risk areas, and quality trends in a clear and consistent format. The role provides consolidated reporting across all testing streams so that leadership has a single source of truth on quality.

Governance and Stakeholder Communication

Producing regular test assurance reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders, supporting go/no-go decisions with data-driven insight, and providing visibility of testing progress, risks, and release readiness are key to the success of this role. The Test Assurance Manager translates technical detail into clear business insight at the right altitude for each audience.

Continuous Improvement

Identifying gaps and inefficiencies across QA, UAT, and reporting processes, recommending improvements to testing frameworks and governance, and driving consistency and scalability across projects rounds out the remit. The Test Assurance Manager helps the wider organisation mature its quality practice over time.

What We’re Looking For

Our client is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, provided the core test assurance and governance experience is in place. The following list separates genuine must-haves from advantages that will strengthen an application.

Essential

  • 7-10+ years of experience in QA, testing, or quality assurance roles
  • Proven background in test coordination, test assurance, or programme-level QA oversight
  • Strong working knowledge of UAT processes and business validation
  • Solid understanding of the end-to-end testing lifecycle, with a post-development focus
  • Working knowledge of performance testing and security testing concepts
  • Experience operating across multiple teams and vendors without direct authority
  • Strong reporting, governance, and stakeholder management skills
  • Confidence translating technical testing status into clear business insight

Advantageous

  • Previous experience in iGaming, online casino, sports betting, or other regulated markets
  • Familiarity with test management tooling such as Jira, Xray, TestRail, or Zephyr
  • Exposure to regulated environments such as MGA, UKGC, or other gaming jurisdictions
  • ISTQB Advanced or equivalent test certification
  • Experience producing executive-level test assurance and quality reporting

What’s on Offer

The role is based in Gibraltar, an established iGaming hub with a vibrant professional community, strong infrastructure, and an attractive lifestyle. Benefits typically include performance-related incentives, structured career development, exposure to a portfolio of complex projects across regulated markets, and the chance to shape test assurance practice across an organisation rather than within a single product team. Frequently Asked Questions

What does a Test Assurance Manager actually do in iGaming?

A Test Assurance Manager in iGaming provides governance, coordination, and reporting across all post-development testing activities including QA, UAT, performance, and security testing. The role sits across teams rather than within one, ensuring full visibility and confidence in release readiness across regulated markets such as those covered by the MGA and UKGC.

Is this Test Assurance Manager role based in Gibraltar or remote?

The role is based in Gibraltar on a hybrid working pattern. Candidates currently based in Gibraltar, or open to relocating to Gibraltar from Spain (including Sotogrande, La Linea, and the wider Cadiz region) or further afield, will be considered. Some flexibility around remote working days is offered, with specific arrangements agreed during the offer stage.

How is this role different from a QA Manager?

The Test Assurance Manager works alongside the QA Manager, not in place of them. The QA Manager owns hands-on QA execution and people leadership, while the Test Assurance Manager owns governance, end-to-end testing visibility, vendor coordination, and stakeholder reporting across the full programme of work.

What experience level is required for a Test Assurance Manager?

Our client is looking for 7-10+ years of QA or testing experience, with a strong track record in test coordination, assurance, or programme-level QA oversight. Experience working across multiple teams and vendors without direct authority is essential, as is the ability to translate technical detail into clear business reporting.

Does the Test Assurance Manager role require iGaming experience?

iGaming experience, particularly within online casino, sports betting, or other regulated markets, is advantageous and will help a candidate hit the ground running. Strong test assurance and governance experience from another regulated sector such as financial services, fintech, or healthtech will also be considered.
