Overview of Role

This is a varied position covering both direct and indirect taxes across multiple jurisdictions. With an initial focus on gambling taxes and transfer pricing, this position offers the opportunity to take technical ownership while shaping the future direction of the role. Be the technical lead and operational process owner for Group gambling taxes and transfer pricing, supporting the Group financial audit on corporation tax. Create, document and implement robust processes for areas of responsibility ensuring audit readiness, and work closely with Group Finance Team and other stakeholders to deliver strong tax outcomes.

What you will do:

  • Gambling Taxes: Ownership and enhancement of the existing Group monthly and quarterly gambling tax operational processes. Ensuring that computations, submissions and payments are complete, accurate and timely in accordance with relevant legislation across multiple jurisdictions. Monitoring changes in legislation, interpreting impact to the Group and recommending any necessary changes to Group policies and processes accordingly. Ensuring all processes and positions taken are robust, documented and defendable. Development and automation of Group gambling tax processes. Working collaboratively with Group BI and Finance teams to automate as far as possible computations and integration with Group accounting software (Oracle).
  • Transfer Pricing: Development of Group transfer pricing strategy and processes including working with external advisors in respect of benchmarking and creating transfer pricing local and master files. On-going updating and maintenance of transfer pricing files and monitoring changes in legislation and potential impact to the group. Ownership and management of intra-group company agreements. Working with key stakeholders to ensure the effective operationalisation of Group transfer pricing strategy and associated processes.
  • Corporation Tax Computations: Calculation of individual entity and Group consolidated corporation tax computations in support of the annual financial audit and financial statements production. Responding to financial audit queries in respect of corporation tax computations to be included in the financial statements.
  • Research: Ad-hoc research of tax legislation, interpretation and application to Group specific circumstances. Drafting of tax papers and internal technical memos.
  • Decision-Making & Autonomy: The role is a senior specialist/technical lead level role. The role holder will be expected to make and implement operational decisions in their areas of control and expertise. They will be expected to make recommendations for strategy and policy decisions. Prepare papers for review and approval.

Who you are:

  • Have strong technical knowledge in the areas of gambling taxes and transfer pricing.
  • Have strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Able to build strong relationships with and influence key stakeholders.
  • Experienced in researching tax legislation and interpreting it with specific application to Group circumstances
  • Have detailed knowledge of gambling taxes (primarily European markets).
  • Have detailed knowledge of transfer pricing rules and OECD transfer pricing guidelines.
  • Have knowledge of Gibraltar and Malta corporation tax.

Special Certifications or Qualifications:

  • Professional accountancy or tax qualification (eg ACCA, CTA)
  • At least 3 years post qualification experience.
